Tail Wheel Training / Endorsement
Get your Tailwheel endorsement flying our American Champion 8KCAB Super Decathlon. This is a great tailwheel trainer that is flown from the front seat making the forward visibility excellent for the pilot. Tailwheel training will improve your stick and rudder skills and make you a better pilot in all of the planes you fly. To earn your tailwheel endorsement, you'll learn 3 point landings, wheel landings and crosswind landings on grass and pavement. You'll also practice some basic skill building maneuvers such as stalls, steep turns and a few stick and rudder building exercises. We fly out of Lincoln (KLNK), which is very close to Crete, Seward, David City and Columbus which all have grass runways that are great for tailwheel practice. This endorsement will usually require 6-12 hours of instruction on average but each individual may vary. The airplane rental is $180/hr and the instructor rate is $120/hr totaling $300/hr for dual. No solo rental available in this plane
Upset Recovery Training
The Decathlon is a great platform for upset recovery training. Practice some basic aerobatics and learn how to get yourself out of unusual attitudes and spins. These skills can increase your flight envelope and improve your chances of surviving an unexpected upset. This training can be accomplished along with a tailwheel endorsement, or you can just do upset training.
